Radio Jingles . . . .

What is a Radio Jingle?..
There are many types of radio jingles, jingles played before news broadcasts, competitions, radios shows and to identify a radio station. Jingles are catchy repetitive songs or tunes aimed at staying in the listeners head, breaking up different radio sections and are there to liven up the radio.
Codes and conventions of a Radio Jingle..
These are what makes up a jingle, the main codes and conventions of radio jingles are to keep them relevant to the radio station, show and target audience. Also most radio jingles are kept short so that the audience doesn't get bored or change over, the jingle has also got to standout and be clear and definitive. It's good to have information in the jingle but to much could cause information overload.

What we did..
For are second rotation we did radio jingles. As I stated before there are many types of radio jingles but we were asked only to create three, a news jingle, a station ident and a promo for our show if we could have are own.
Show Promo Script. . .
"Wake up with golden oldies."
"Go home with the newest music"
"Interviews with legends..."
Will Smith- "look there's only a couple of tracks left on the album man like what you think i should put on now?"
"Put on whatever you like.... urmm.. that's fine."
Will Smith- "Really, nah come on i got some hot records, i mean, i got 'the rain'... I got 'Uhh' what should i do next?"
"oh how about some old school men in black then."

"Tune in early mornings from half 8 till 9 and in the afternoons 4 till 6"

Evaluation of radio jingles...
I was most looking forward to creating the radio jingles as radio is something I'm really interested in but this mini project didn't really go smoothly. Due to various computer problems I had to restart my project around 4 times, one time even because the computer lost all my work. So when my computer finaly started working as you can imagine I wasn't left with much time to finish in, my first priority was the show promo as i new this would be the longest and hardest to complete because of my 'converstation' with Will Smith. After finishing my Show promo, I created my news jingle and then my station ident, I think both of these turned out well considering the time i had left, even though i stayed a little late to finish them. Both are short and give you the information the viewer needs but i have to say i think my show promo is the best, it took me a long time to edit and finish, its not perfect but upbeat, gives you all the right information, has relevent music and the speech is clear, also and interview with Will Smith which is personaly my favorite part.
